Bettas can needless to say survive inside the little jars they are generally sold in, but that is far from a proper environment and bettas in such tight quarters may fade in color and become sluggish. Bettas don't require a huge volume of space, but a little room to swim, and a decent amount of surface area to the prepare betta fish breeding tank to acquire gulps of air in are recommended.
